01Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Textual LLC (“Textual,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use https://www.textual.wedding and our app, photo albums, text messages, AI features, and connected-app features (the “Service”). It covers two main groups of people:
- Hosts: couples and the co-hosts they invite, who create accounts and run events; and
- Guests: people who receive event texts or join an event’s photo album. Guests usually don’t have accounts, and much of their information is given to us by a host.
For guest information that a host adds, the host decides what to add and why, and we process it to provide the Service to the host. Our Terms of Service also apply.
02Information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the Service. For example:
From hosts
- Account details, such as your mobile phone number, name, and email address if you give it to us, including through our waitlist.
- Event details, such as the event name, date, location, time zone, wedding website, cover image, and contact card details.
- Guest lists, such as guest names, phone numbers, groups, consent status and notes, and files you upload to import them.
- Messages you write, schedule, test, and send, and their delivery results.
- Co-host invitations, including the phone numbers of people you invite.
- AI feature content, such as what you type or say, files you attach, website content we read for you, replies, actions taken, and notes about your event. Voice input is converted to text; we don’t use it to identify you.
- Payment information, such as purchase history and the limited payment details our payment processor shares with us. We don’t receive full card numbers.
- Connected apps, such as authorization records and the requests a connected app makes.
About guests
- Supplied by a host, such as name, mobile number, groups, consent status, and notes.
- When you join a photo album, the name and phone number you enter and your text-message choice.
- Photos you upload and related details, such as size, format, and upload time. Photo files can contain embedded information, such as when and where they were taken.
- Text activity, such as messages sent to you, delivery status, and replies like STOP.
Collected automatically
- Device and log data, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring pages, errors, and timestamps.
- Analytics and session replay. We use analytics tools, including session replay, which may record your interactions with our pages, such as clicks, scrolling, what appears on screen, and information entered into forms, including names and phone numbers. We configure replay to exclude certain sensitive fields, such as sign-in codes and passwords. When you’re signed in, we associate analytics with your account, including your name and phone number.
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described in Cookies, analytics, and advertising.
03How we use information
We use personal information to, for example:
- create and secure accounts, verify phone numbers, and let hosts share events with co-hosts;
- send the texts hosts schedule, track delivery, and honor opt-outs;
- run photo albums and show photos to the event’s hosts and album members;
- provide AI features and connected apps;
- process payments and manage plans and allowances;
- provide support and send service and account notices;
- understand how the Service is used, fix problems, and improve it;
- measure the performance of our own advertising;
- prevent spam, fraud, and abuse, enforce limits, and protect guests, users, and the Service; and
- comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We don’t use guest information to market to guests, and we don’t sell personal information for money. See U.S. state privacy notices about advertising measurement.
04Mobile numbers and text consent
We use mobile phone numbers to provide and secure the Service, for example to sign you in, send event texts and co-host invitations, honor opt-outs, prevent abuse, provide support, and understand how the Service is used.
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or text-message opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We disclose this information only as needed to operate the Service, such as to the relevant event’s hosts and co-hosts, to service providers that support messaging and our operations, and when required by law.
You can opt out of event texts at any time by replying STOP or emailing [email protected]. We keep records of opt-outs so we can continue to honor them.
06AI processing
When you use AI features, we send the relevant content to AI providers to generate a response. Depending on your request, that may include your messages, event details, guest names and groups, attached files, website content, and voice recordings. Providers process this content under their own terms and may retain it as those terms describe. We store AI conversations so you can return to them, and we send AI and connected-app requests, including their content, to our monitoring tools to track quality, cost, and errors, taking steps to reduce the personal information included. We don’t use your content to train our own AI models.
08How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as we need it to provide the Service and for the purposes in this policy, such as complying with law, resolving disputes, honoring opt-outs, and enforcing our agreements. How long depends on the type of information and why we have it. For example:
- account, event, guest, message, photo, and AI data is generally kept while the account or event is active;
- guests and photos a host removes are hidden from the event and album, and we may keep the underlying records and files for a period afterwards;
- setup drafts that aren’t turned into an event are deleted after a period of inactivity, and cached website content is kept only temporarily;
- opt-out records are kept so we can keep honoring them;
- payment records are kept as needed for tax, accounting, and legal purposes; and
- we may delete event data, including albums, after an event’s access period ends.
When we delete information, it may take time to remove it from our systems and our providers’ systems, and copies may remain in backups for a period. Information held by our providers is kept according to their retention practices.
09Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, such as encrypted connections and access controls, and we limit access by our personnel to those who need it to operate, support, or secure the Service. No system is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or lost. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.
10Your choices and rights
- Stop texts: reply STOP to any message or email [email protected].
- Update information: hosts can update event, guest, and message information in the app.
- Access or delete: to ask for a copy of your information or for us to delete your account or an event’s information, email [email protected].
- Guests can ask the host to update or remove their information, or contact us. Where we hold information on a host’s behalf, we may need to involve the host.
- Advertising measurement: use Global Privacy Control or email [email protected] to opt out.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to appeal our decision on a request. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your identity and authority, and we will respond as required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11Children
The Service isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. Host accounts are for adults 18 and over, and hosts shouldn’t add children under 13 as guests. If you believe we have collected personal information from a child under 13, contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete it.
12International users
The Service is intended for use in the United States. Textual LLC is based in the United States, and we and our providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from where you live.
13U.S. state privacy notices
Where a U.S. state privacy law, such as California’s, applies to our processing of your information, this section adds to the rest of this policy, subject to that law’s exceptions. In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, from the sources and for the purposes described above:
- identifiers, such as name, phone number, email address, IP address, and account, device, and advertising click IDs;
- commercial information, such as purchases and plans;
- internet or other electronic activity, such as pages viewed, interactions, and session replays;
- audio and visual information, such as photos and voice input;
- approximate location derived from IP address, and any location embedded in photos; and
- other information you provide, such as event details, messages, and AI conversations.
We disclose these categories to service providers and contractors for business purposes. We disclose identifiers and commercial information to Reddit for advertising measurement, which may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising or “targeted advertising” under some state laws. You can opt out by enabling Global Privacy Control or emailing [email protected]. We don’t sell personal information for money and have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16. We keep each category for the periods described in “How long we keep information.”
To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. California residents may also ask about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes; we don’t make those disclosures.
14Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you, such as through the Service, by text, or by email.
